O alarme de incêndio

O Too Fast For Love Tour passou no último dia 9 por Boston.

INTERVIEW On pop, technology, and the 90s

Cobra Starship, the dance/synth/pop group will be coming to Boston on May 9 at the House of Blues. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to speak with the articulate and thoughtful Ryland Blackinton, the guitarist, about the band, Boston, and music. Thanks to Kelly McWilliam from Atlantic Records for making it happen.

TT: From my understanding, you actually used to live in Massachusetts? What do you think of the Boston concertgoers and dynamics of the crowd?

RB: I love to going back to Massachusetts — I always have lunch with family and that’s always a lot of fun. I always get at least a free dinner out of it. The fans are great, and I always feel in touch with them when I’m back.

TT: I understand that you were involved in the band This is Ivy League. The music is much more folksy and whimsical I’d say than Cobra Starship. Were you originally looking to go into that genre when you thought of starting a band?

RB: When Alex and I started This is Ivy League, yeah, I’d say our music was like that. I mean, it’s all pop. I love pop music and I love playing pop music for the last couple of years but that’s what my music first sounded like….it all falls under the realm of pop.

Too Fast For Love Tour Diary – 30/04

Abaixo, confira a tradução do Too Fast For Love Tour Diary de hoje.

entrevista pra traduzir, please – The Blast

The last time Blast talked to Cobra Starship, they were opening up for Fall Out Boy on the Beleivers Never Die II tour and anticipating the release of their new album, “Hot Mess.” Then, the group was glad to have been able to make the record after complications arose with lead singer Gabe Saporta’s voice. After throat surgery and a brief vacation for vocal recovery, the band tracked demos in the Poconos Mountains and recorded the album in New York City. The CD dropped last August and since then Cobra Starship has blown up. After less than a year, Cobra has gone from “that band that did the Snakes on a Plane song” and a niche crowd earned by months and months of extensive touring to being a radio top 40 staple and performing at the People’s Choice Awards huge venues, thanks to their platinum single “Good Girls Gone Bad.”

“A lot has changed. It was very beneficial for us and a big deal. It was our first platinum single.” said Cobra bassist Alex Suarez during a phone interview on Wednesday. “We’ve been able to go to countries we’ve never been to and play a lot of places we weren’t able to play before.”
